“I spent 5 days at this hostel during Carnival 2017. The breakfast here is delicious! The people are cool and the staff polite and friendly! It’s really close to the end of the Carnival Circuit so when you’re ready to go home it’s really easy and fast! I highly recommend this place” (Carlos – Brazil)
The Best. Right by a beautiful uncrowded beach, the beach has usually got small nice waves, sound of waves 24/7, far enough off the road so that there's no noise of cars, 1 minute walk to bus stop, sun setting on the ocean, big spacious balcony with hammocks... unbelievable that this exists in a city of 2.5 million people for 10-15 EUR/night. The breakfasts are great, with tropical fruit, homemade cake and fruit juice and brasilian coffee. (thebeachhouse – St. Lucia)
Awesome hostel experience! OMG. Not sure if it could be any better. Great views, awesome breakfasts and I mean really AWESOME! The common area is so much fun and beds are pretty comfy too. I would totally visit this spot again. (Ozgur Dogan U)
Fall Asleep to the Sound of the Ocean. Great place. You're about 10 meters from the sea, so can hear that crackling sound of ocean waves crashing against the rocks when you fall asleep and wakeup. Great to hang out on the veranda overlooking the ocean both for breakfast and at night chatting over a drink. Very hospitable, friendly, and helpful staff. Dona Lucia and Michael are gracious hosts and will help with what ever you need. We stayed there 3-4 days but it felt like we've known them for years. Simple, charming place where you can experience local Bahian hospitality. Would highly recommend. (Peter – London)
"I stayed one night in Salvador, and I loved the place, I was fortunate to stay there on Friday, right in Rio Vermelho, considered one of the most bohemian places in Salvador. Great hostel, beautiful, clean, polite people, great breakfast and close to the bars and restaurants in the area. (Jonas Almeida = Brazil).
Everthing was great! Really nice place with a wonderful view!! Easy access to all the sights in Salvador” (Nani Adelmo)
The best place on the planet. The staff is amazing and they took care of me from the minute I got there, and the owner a really nice guy! I hope to go back soon! (Janaina Gisele).
My first hostel experience was at Pedra da Sereia and it couldn’t have been better; an awesome seaview, really nice people and a super tasty breakfast. I’ll miss the place a lot! Lucia, the breakfast lady, really made my stay and Michael was really attentive! Thanks to all the staff that made me feel right at home!! (Bruno - Portugal)

(THE MERMAID’S STONE)
….. between the beaches of Canzuá*and Paciência, just above the rocks, was a very large cave, where the elders used to say was the “Casa da Sereia” (House of the Mermaid), also known as “Mae das Aguas” (Mother of Water, the illustrious Iemanja Goddess of the Sea in the Afro Brazilian Candomble religion). This grotto, where the most beautiful gifts and offerings for the Mermaid were placed, was destroyed in 1920, by quarry work, remaining only the name and legend of “Pedra da Sereia” (Mermaid’s Stone). Now that the cave has ceased to exist, devotees and admirers take their gifts to various beaches, especially on February 2, the date of the Iemanjá Festival, one of Bahia’s most famous Cultural Festivals.
